Book Chat: Read the Rainbow, Sept 16, 2019
I think the best thing about books (besides reading them!) has to be their covers and their spines. Aesthetically, a beautiful tonal book stack just makes my soul happy! Today I’m sharing some beautiful purple\ book spines–all are books that I haven’t read yet but are top of my too-read list. A few are already published and a few are yet to come. Happy Monday!!!
- Lies in White Dresses by Sofia Grant – An entrancing tale of female friendship and new beginnings inspired by the true stories of those who “took the Reno cure”. In the 1940s and 50s, women who needed a fast divorce went to Nevada to live on a ranch with other women in the same boat. Three women embark on this journey together, but a shocking moment will change their lives forever.
- Grown-Up Pose by Sonya Lalli – A delightfully modern look at what happens for a young woman when tradition, dating, and independence collide. Anu is to young to be divorcing and starting again. In the midst of healing, caring for her young daughter, and opening a yoga studio, she’ll look inside herself to find what she truly wants.
- Hello Sunshine by Laura Dave – A novel about the secrets we keep…even from ourselves. Culinary star Sunshine Mackenzie has it all, until she gets hacked and her greatest secrets are revealed. Losing everything, she is forced to move home, but what she finds in the ashed of her life may just save her.
- Do This for Me by Eliza Kennedy – A high-powered attorney and mother of two delves into the mysteries of sex, the perils of desire, and why men and women treat each other the way they do. A ruthless attorney is the envy of her firm, until she finds out her husband had an affair. Now, in an effort to repair the damage, she’ll redefine what it means to have a “happy marriage”.
- Mr. Nice Guy by Jennifer Miller and Jason Feifer – Journalist Lucas Callahan gave up everything to take a writing job in the Big Apple. Carmen Kelly wanted to be a hard-hitting journalist, only to find herself cast in the role of sex columnist. When her latest piece describes an unsatisfying encounter with a nerdy guy, Lucas realizes he didn’t just sleep with a colleague, he slept with the resident sex columnist. When he writes an anonymous rebuttal, the two lock in a battle of words and wits in the most public of forums.
- You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley – A heart-wrenching and unforgettable love story about a woman who must choose between the man she loves and the man fate has chosen for her. Mia has the perfect life, but she can’t stop dreaming about a certain man, one she has never met. Until she relocates to a small-town in PA and meets him. And then she finds out, he’s been dreaming of her too…
- Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J. Christopher – How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days gets a millennial makeover in this romantic comedy! Jack is a journalist tasked to write a buzz-y new piece: How to Lose a Girl. Hannah is an event planner trying to show her boss that she can have a more relateable image. What happens when this fake relationship turns into real feelings?
See anything you’ve read or that is on your list? Have a great week!
