Book Review: The Wives | Tarryn Fisher
What a book!!! This one is a read-in-a-day type of story. It’s so unique, the premise for this! And I found the main character Thursday to be fascinating.
Essentially, Thursday’s husband has two other wives… Monday and Tuesday. She doesn’t know their names, she doesn’t know more than scarce details about them. But every week she sees her husband in their Seattle home on Thursdays and Fridays, then he goes back to the other wives in Portland.
And then one day, Thursday finds something that gives her a clue into one of the other wives. And slowly, things begin to unravel. With each thread she pulls, her life comes apart. She thought she was ok with the setup she had, but is she?
This is the type of book that I don’t want to say too much about, because I really don’t want to spoil it. Let’s just say, Thursday’s story of how she met her husband and how she entered into this type of marriage was riveting. I felt like I understood it from her perspective more than I thought I would!
But here’s the thing–the ending could go either way. For me, it was a 3-star ending on a 5-star book. I saw some who seemed to have the same opinion, and others who completely disagreed and thought this ending blew them out of the water!
It wasn’t just that I predicted it, it was that I wanted more out of the end to such a unique and outstanding thriller.
But it didn’t detract from how great this book is. Read it! Drop me a line and let me know: did you love the ending or did it fall flat for you?
