BOOK REVIEW: The Other Mrs by Mary Kubica @MaryKubica @KCC_PR @parkrowbooks #bookreview #theothermrs

Oooh Ms Kubica, you have done it again! Unsettling, twisted, and fast-paced—The Other Mrs definitely had me wanting to read more each time I had to put it down. And the ending was so fun! A total shocker!

About the Book

She tried to run, but she can’t escape the other Mrs….

Sadie and Will Foust have only just moved their family from bustling Chicago to small-town Maine when their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. The murder rocks their tiny coastal island, but no one is more shaken than Sadie.

But it’s not just Morgan’s death that has Sadie on edge. And as the eyes of suspicion turn toward the new family in town, Sadie is drawn deeper into the mystery of what really happened that dark and deadly night. But Sadie must be careful, for the more she discovers about Mrs. Baines, the more she begins to realize just how much she has to lose if the truth ever comes to light.

Reflection

Sadie Foust and her husband Will cannot get out of Chicago fast enough, when they settle into a tiny, remote island in Maine with their two sons. Not long after, their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home, and the community is abuzz with gossip about the murder in their small town.

But Sadie is distracted for other reasons… The house they inherited from Will’s deceased sister is a bit eerie. They’ve also taken on Will’s niece Imogen, and Sadie is convinced Imogen has a darkness to her that is unnatural.

Soon, Sadie will have even more to worry about, when her family draws suspicious eyes in the Morgan Baines case. They aren’t just the new family in town, there are other reasons the focus turns to the Foust family. And soon it will become clear how much Sadie’s family has to lose if the truth comes to light.

There is so much to enjoy about this book, but I’m really hesitant to talk about it too much! It’s the sort of book that once you go down the rabbit hole, it’s hard to remember what you learned when. I love the setting in the remote town in Maine. It’s perfect for a bit of psychological suspense to roll in like the fog off the ocean. I also loved that there is a vaguely unsettled feeling to the book—as though I was a bit off kilter while reading it. I felt constantly on my toes.

Kubica always managed to pull in some stunner twists, and this book is no exception. I was so excited to learn this is set to become a Netflix movie! It is sure to be fantastic. And as for reading it… My advice? Sit back, grab a cozy blanket and your favorite reading snack, and enjoy the ride!
